A bit of a play

Today I managed to grab a couple of hours in my studio and have a bit of a play with my new set of Limited Edition Fresco paints

I love all these new colours but Hint of Mint.....what can I say......It's beautiful and I want to paint everything with it!!!!!

My project today started with a heart shaped piece of greyboard which Leandra had cut for me for a previous project, and lots of buttons. We all have a button tin don't we???? Mine seemed particularly full of pink and lemon ones which I know I will never use, so I decided this was a good way to find a home for a few of them. They are stuck down with some matt medium.

Now to get some texture. Still using my matt medium, I stuck down some crumpled tissue paper.

When it was dry, I painted everything with a Hint of Mint Fresco, using quite a stiff paintbrush so that I could make sure the paint got into all the little hidey holes. When this was dry, I sprayed a few squirts of watered down Evergreen (50/50 water and paint) in the centre of the heart followed by a light mist of plain water to help move the paint around all the texture.

I found a few embellishments that also got the Hint of Mint treatment followed by a touch of Spanish Topaz Treasure Gold

I love the effect of the darker Evergreen paint sitting in the dippy bits of the tissue paper. I will definitely use this technique again.

Don't forget, it's The Big Stamping and Scrapbooking show this weekend at Alexandra Palace. The PaperArtsy guys have a stand there which will be full of all the latest stamp releases. Leandra and Jo will be demonstrating on Saturday and I will be joining Leandra on Sunday. It's a great show, I hope you will join us for some arty fun and retail therapy.

Lovely altered heart Lin, I have been using crumpled masking tape to create texture, it's a little tougher than tissue tape and works wonderfully. Loving the colored buttons, need to do that as have loads and not too sure what to make with them.

Enjoy the show on Sunday especially the new signs Mark has designed for all the PA designers, they are awesome, am betting you can't wait to see them either.

Great post -:) xxx
