An Altered Weekend

What a lovely, creative weekend I've had. Two full days spent working on an Altered book with four lovely, lovely ladies who all travelled quite a long way to join me for this class which I taught at The Bead Scene. So a huge thank you to the lovely Steph for allowing me to use her fabulous classroom and supplying us with endless cups of tea and coffee.

My wonderful students worked really hard this weekend and as there were only four of them (bad planning on my part hosting a class on opening weekend of the Olympics) it was a great opportunity to get to know everyone a little better and give everyone way more one to one attention than would normally be possible. Here are some of there amazing book covers and pages.

Texture applied with Viva's Ferro and Terra. Grungeboard and Grungepaper letters.....all painted with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paint and highlights added with Treasure Gold.......beautiful!

We dabbled with some Ice Resin and made some wonderful pieces that were embedded in a niche.

I love this one made by Rachel for her London themed page.

This is Janet's niche.

This one belongs to Rachel S. and will become home to her Ice Resin piece once the niche has been filled with scrumpled Tissue Wrap.

And Lin's niche which is also waiting for her Tissue Wrap.

We inserted zips into some pages for a fun element.

Some fabric stamping that has been quilted and beaded.

And finally, I actually got to do a page in my own book. This one is a very different style for me....very fresh looking. The background was done with Gelatos and the images painted in with Fresco Finish paint.

I'm typing this blog post whilst watching the Olympics and Rebecca Adlington just won a bronze medal!! Way to go Becky!!!! Amazing swim!!!

That's me for today, I'm off to concentrate on watching the Olympics.

Thanks Lin we have had the most fantastic weekend. You are a fantastic teacher and really helped us to increase our skills and confidence. If you have not done a Lin class you are really missing out.
And if you need another reason Steph, who owns The Bead Scene has the most fantastic shop in such a lovely location, and makes you drinks all day.
And you get to play with the fantastic new PaperArtsy stamps, which we just need!
Book a class with confidence you won't be disappointed.
Once again THANK YOU Lin, you are the best
Rachel and Janet Soulsby
Ps hope your granddaughter is on the mend.

Hello Lin --

Well, have to say those books look so wonderful that I'm chewing my thumb and wondering if I can swing a way of getting over to the UK to play with you!!! But . . . being reasonable (not my style!!), I think I have to behave a wait a little bit before my next trip over. A class with you is high on my list, though, and I'll do what I can to "fix it" in the not-too distant future. Truly gorgeous books -- I love those niches with the Ice Resin -- want to learn the secrets of all that!
Love and admiration -- Sally xo

Oh my, such a wonderful class. I have never thought of using zips! I feel I need to sort through my sewing stash to find one!
Thanks for the inspiration...again!
