Productive day off!

I had a day off from the shop today and I had planned to have a whole day to myself. Mark is away working in Canada at the moment, he's been there since last Friday and it feels like he's been away for ever......he's back on Sunday though, so I thought I would have a "me day" before he gets back. I spent all day messing around with my journal....actually, I should say journals as I now have three on the go. I've found that it's great having a few on the go so that you can leave paint and glue to dry naturally whilst you work on one of the other ones. I much prefer natural drying as there is less chance of the pages buckling up. My heat gun gave my lady below some seriously bad wrinkles and I don't have an anti aging cream to fix her!!! Anyway, she is still my favourite page of the day. A close up....actually her wrinkles look less obvious in this shot...I wonder why?
This is a very simple background in a new mini 7 Gypsies journal that I started today. I'm loving the dinky size, you can do a complete page in no time at all.
Found a fab door picture in a magazine....bit of doodling and some text....bobs your uncle....done! I've been messing around with this page for a week or so now.I just cut come strips of paper. Stuck some printed tissue paper over the top and was tempted to leave it like this. I really liked the colours but it did look just like paper stuck on my pages.

So I slapped a layer of watery gesso over the whole thing, stencilled a few flowers, sprayed it with Crafty Notions Champagne spray and now I'm liking it a whole lot more. It' is still waiting to be finished but this page needed some very serious drying time, it was soaking wet!
Here's another page in my mini journal. Lots of layers of paint. some stencilling, a little doodling and a lot of dotting. I'm not sure that this background is entirely finished yet......I'll sleep on this one.

This page is destined to be called The surprises in life. The first surprise is that it is very pink and you all know my thoughts on pink, I'm not a pink girl at all, but I'm trying really hard to like it. The background is mixed with a very watery green which did help me somewhat. I let lots of watery paint run down the page and flicked quite a lot of splats from my paintbrush. A lot of fun but not so good if you are wearing a white t shite without your very new Ranger apron....doh!!

Again, still waiting for my surprised girl to dry before finishing this page.

To round off the day my daughter Kelly and I took Ronnie and Millie out for Pizza tonight as Kelly's husband Jimmy is also away at the moment. After yummy pizza and the biggest and best ice cream ever.....oh and four trips to the toilet for Millie ......we went for a little looksee around the shops and the children had a ride on a car carousel thingy. Mills is much more of a poser that Ronnie as you can see from the following pics.

Hope you have a fun and creative weekend, Lin.

I am so loving your journals - such different techniques, styles, colours - it just seems to be pouring effortlessly out of you - but I bet it is not really that easy!
