more journal pages

I think I'm a bit hooked by the whole art journaling thing. It really is very addictive. I had wondered what the heck I was going to write about as I'm not really one for sharing my innermost thoughts and private life with the rest of the world but I knew I wanted to share my journal pages. I also knew that quite a lot of my students are very private people too, so I came up with the idea of The Book Of Ten's. It will contain my top ten of everything I can think of. You have already seen my top ten films and ten favourite place, so here are my top ten all time favourite songs. Of course this list is an ever changing one, so it's my top ten as of June 2010!!!! I'm going to include all sorts of other top ten's so you'll have to keep checking back to see what else I love.

For this page, I decided to use my brand new, gi-normous tin of watercolour pencils. I've not really used water colour pencils much, but me thinks me is going to be using them quite a bit from now on. It's a doddle.....just scribble colour on to the paper........

....brush with water to soften and blend..........

....and it will look like this.

It creates a lovely soft and subtle background that you can stamp and collage all over.

I used some Versamagic ink pads to stamp these Paperartsy images. I did succumb to some more of Tim Holtz tissue tapes.....that may well turn out to be a continuing theme throughout the journal. Then I tore some paper strips, that I coloured with Distress inks, I numbered them, added my song titles and finally put down why they were my chosen few.

You should try it, it's a lot of fun!

Take care, Lin

This is stunning - I wish I could have got onto your journalling course and printer tray course but they booked up pdq. Maybe you'll be able to repeat them another time. (I know there are not enough hours in the day, weeks on the year this year!)

I just totally love your work and what you are creating

I am not much to journal my private thoughts either but I LOVE the idea of a top ten journal. I have an empty journal that I bound on a recent art retreat and now I know what to do with it. LOL!!!

Beautiful colouring Lin. I bought some acid free water colour pencils over 10 years ago when I first started scrapbooking...not used them much myself but you have given me inspiration. *Ü* TFS. ~Glen~
