Monday 12 January 2015

This is my first blog post of the year and although it's already 12th January, I would like to wish everyone who reads my blog a very Happy New Year.

I knew I was going to have a busy time in my studio over the Christmas period, so I had a mammoth tidy up, de-clutter, re-organise and a huge chucking junk away session. This involved a trip to that well known Swedish store for new storage units. The result is that I now know where everything is and it is clean too, which is a real bonus as I am such a messy worker!!!

I have been so busy working on secret stuff, that yesterday, I felt the need to take a break and work on something else. I recently watched a DVD by Beryl Taylor whose work I admire and it really inspired me to try out one of her techniques. She sandwiches scraps of paper between a layer of calico and tissue paper, paints over it with watered down paint and uses it as a substrate for her projects. You may remember that I was lucky enough to take a class with Beryl last year and made a fabric book, which I absolutely loved, so I decided another, but bigger book would be my project. I love an on-going project that you can just keep adding to.

These are going to be the pages for my book and I will work on them when I feel the need to be creative just for me.

Sometimes when you are working on things behind the scenes, the excitement builds and builds but you can't share that excitement with anyone because it's all top secret. Anyways, I am beyond excited about my new PaperArtsy releases next month and am finding it hard to keep the secret, so I asked Leandra if I could share a sneaky little peek with you and she said "yup"!!! So here you go, a first taster of what what lies ahead. Very different for me, but sooooo much fun!!

Tomorrow, I'll be working on more new samples, you never know, I might be allowed another little looksee later in the week.
