A little something for Ally Pally

Ally Pally is only a few days away now and the excitement is building among those who are attending the show. There is also mucho excitement and hard work going on behind the scenes at PaperArtsy HQ as Mrs PaperArtsy has lots of new goodies in store for you all. Now I'm not going to spill the beans, I will let Leandra do that herself but what I can tell you is that I had an idea for a new demo at the show. Now I realise that many of you will not actually be able to come to London for the show so I thought I would briefly show you my idea. If you are coming to the show, you can look away now (just like sharing vital sporting results on the news bulletin) or read through and let me know what you think.

I started by gluing some printed paper (Prima) to a piece of greyboard using Matt Medium.

This is the left over card after die cutting part of my tulip die and bloom die.

I used a piece of Cut'n'dry foam to sponge Snowflake Fresco Finish paint through the card, using it just like a stencil.

I stamped some other images in the Snowflake paint (stem for the flower & message - ELB03, other greenery form my new plate ELB04) to create a little garden. When the paint was dry, I used a baby wipe and some translucent paints to tint the white paint. I like to use a baby wipe for this as I found it gives a softer, blended look. I used Hey Pesto for the greenery, Pumpkin Soup for the large flower head and Claret for all the other areas.

When the translucent paint was dry, I replaced my cardboard stencil, placed another stencil over the top and used a small amount of Claret to stencil a design on to the flower head. Lately, I have started using a small stencil brush again for small, detailed stencils instead of cut'n'dry as I feel I get a sharper image. It was JOFY
who reminded me of this in a blog post that she did some months ago and I thought at the time...she's right!!

And this is what you get!

When I was happy with the stencilling and I had dried everything, I popped my cardboard stencil back in place and stamped some script with Jet Black Archival ink.

A little bit of Classic Treasure Gold around the edges to frame the piece.

A few added embellishments for added interest and Bob's your uncle!!

Here's another one using the same technique. I actually like this one better but I had only taken step by step photos of the other one!!

So if you are coming to Ally Pally, stop by the PaperArtsy stand and I'll see what else I can cook up using this technique. Hope to see you there.

Lin

P.S. Update on Kelly and her quest to climb Kilimanjaro.....she's doing amazingly well, we heard from her today, they start their final leg towards the summit tonight and should reach a point approx an hour away from the summit at sunrise tomorrow morning........I have that proud parent feeling like I had  when she was small and starting school...all grown up and brave......she is 34 now, so she is definitely grown up and she also very, very brave.....Mark and I are very proud and lucky parents to have such an amazing daughter.

Fab step by step, but like you, I like the second one best, I think it's the LP image that brings it to life for me!!!

Looking forward to seeing this tag in person, so to speak, after it has done the rounds at Ally Pally. Hopefully you will remember to give it to Leandra so us at Port Sunny can get to see it too.

Hope your daughter is having a fantastic time taking part in this experience and has managed to get some beautiful images, it is no wonder you are one proud Mum :-) x
