Christmas is coming.....

My little Christmas screen is finally finished....and apart from the screen itself, it's made from all Tim Holtz and Ranger products. If you remember from yesterdays post, I had an rather a lot of gesso'd bits and bobs floating around on my desk but in the end I decided to use just the bit (the big bit) and use the bobs for another project. My wooden screen needed a white base to work on and I am asked all the time why do you use gesso so much, can you use an acrylic paint instead? Well, yes, you could use a paint if you want to, I just prefer to use gesso for a number of reasons, basically it is like an undercoat, a primer if you like, it will stop other stuff that you put on top of it soaking through but more importantly if you want to stamp straight on to it like I have here, it has a bit of grab, or if you like a bit of tooth for the next layer to adhere to. It is also less slippy than stamping on to acrylic.

Once dry.....and it was a long wait without a heat gun.....I used a Rangers Aqua paint dabber, this is really a nice, frosty looking shade of blue....perfect for winter scenes. First of all I used it to edge my screen.
Then I used it direct to my stamp for printing those gorgeous snowflakes.

All my grungepaper was die cut using Tim Holtz Alerations dies then coloured with Distress ink. Now for all you guys out there who are in love with glitter, this would be a great project to simply slather glitter over everything but as you know, I am not a glitter girl AT ALL, so mine has been left simple and crisp. Here are a few close ups for you. I stamped some of Tim's Christmas images on paper from the Shabby Vintage paper pad and stuck them behind some facets.....I'm still in love with those things, I think they may well stay on my favourites list forever. I've also got a few baubles dangling here and there for added interest but the bit that I really liked and has nothing to do with Christmas whatsoever is the trim of rosebuds along the bottom. They are from Tim's Lavish Trimming pack and I figured that because they are white, I could get away with using them.....I hope it works......I like it.

And guess what....Lavish Trimmings along with Tim's holiday paper pad, holiday stickers and last but by no means least........drumroll please.....Configurations....all arrived today!!!! Karen is downstairs busy unpacking and pricing, Linda E. will have them on the website asap and I'm here telling you about them when I'm really supposed to be packing the rest of my stuff in the car for Arstycrafts at Warrington this weekend.
If you are coming to Warrington, see you bright and early on Saturday morning, if not, I'll be back next week with Artsycrafts pictures and hopefully an update on Bob.
Take care, Lin
