Welcome baby Sebastian Mark Houghton
I would like to introduce my new grand-son, Sebastian Mark Houghton. He will be called Seb and I was truly moved by Sarah and Chris choosing Mark as his middle name after his very proud Grandad. I have had sooo many emails asking after Seb as many of you saw my first Tweets announcing his birth then it all went quiet and you guys were wondering what happened so here's a short version of the whole awful saga. Basically, Sarah was in labour for three days. She had been referred to the hospital because of raised blood pressure but they decided to send her home again. Actually, she was sent home from the hospital three times, in early labour that's OK but Sarah knew that all was not well. Once they finally found her a bed on the labour ward, it was still obvious that it wasn't going to be an easy delivery and after trying every avenue she had an emergency C - Section. Baby Seb was born on Friday 25th March at 9.30 am weighing in at a whopping 9lb 10oz !!!!! We were of course greatly relieved that he finally made an appearance but sadly by late afternoon Sarah and Chris realised that we wasn't very well. He was whisked away to intensive care immediately as he had a few seizures and they needed to find out why. It has been the longest few days of my life but I am pleased to report that he is doing great now and is back on the regular ward with Sarah. He had a raging infection which caused the seizures and has received huge amounts of anti-biotics which has really done the trick and now you would never know that he had been so ill. Dont't you think that there's something special about baby's feet and his feet are really big!!!

I had my update from Karen over the phone yesterday. Have been so concerned, but didn't want to put extra pressure on you with yet another email, so decided I would leave you peaceful (?!!) without my haggling, and just wait patiently until I see you in Paris!!!! I am soooooo pleased you can still come -- I was wondering if you would be able to make it. Once there, if there is anything I can do to help you, you just snap your fingers! Take care, dear Lin . . . . . and all the congratulations possible from me to all the family, and a huge welcome to little Seb.
