Here's the next in my series of Tim Holtz Configurations Boxes. I wanted to give you a few ideas of how these boxes can be used in different ways. This is a 5.75" x 10.75" box and I've taken away all but four of the small inner boxes. My intention was to make a little townscape but now I think my houses look more like beach huts.....I quite like the idea of beach huts though!
I prepared my box by cutting Paperartsy's Thorndon Hall papers to fit both inside and out but before I stuck them in with Claudine Hellmuth's Matt Medium, I mixed up some of Paperartsy's white Fresco Finish paint with Sailboat Blue and Stream Colorwash and sponged it over the papers with some Cut'n'dry foam. Once dry, I glued them in and edged all of my box with Tissue tape, this also had the paint treatment.
This is the back of my box, I used some of Julie Van Oostens, Collection Elements houses for my little terrace of houses. Some have been covered in Tissue Tape, some have been painted and stamped and then I added some of Tim's Idea-ology trinkets for embellishments. I can't decide if I like the back of this box better than the front!!!!!
Here's a couple of close up shots.
Now for some close ups of the front. All the little boxes were papered and painted the same way as the outer box and I used some of Wendy Vecchi's Arts Parts for the roof on each of the houses. These have been covered in Ten Seconds Studio metal that has been embossed in Tim's Texture Fades but they have also been painted with the same mix of paint as the box. I just added some Jet Black Archival ink to add definition to the edges, this made them really jump
out you.
I made a tape sandwich (metal, humungo sticky tape and card) and die cut my fence using Tim's On the Fence die, again coloured it with the paint treatment before sticking it to my box and decorating with Idea-ology Hitch fasteners which then allowed me to dangle a tassle, type charm, bauble and a trinket pin.
This little guy has corners, a plaquette (actually they all have a plaquette) a philosophy tag and a spinner.
This one has a clock from the Timepieces pack and some wings from the new Regal Adornments.
My final little box has a word stick inside and a Paperartsy little songbird sitting outside. He was die cut using the new smaller sized songbird and stamped using the image from Hot Picks 1103. I'm thinking that this little box needs something else in it but right now, I'm not sure what...I'm sure the right "thing" will turn up soon.
I hope this inspires you guys to start another box, they are a lot of fun! The next one in my series may have to wait a while as I have a heavy teaching schedule this week, Sarah's baby is due today and I'm off to Paris in about 10 days with Leandra....hope Sarah has her baby sooner rather than later!!!!!
Have a creative weekend, Lin

Fabby, fabby! I did think 'beach huts' lol - the back is a townscape, though - you'll just have to turn it round every so often! I love the effect of having the frame on the back, very clever :-) I so have to get on and decorate the one I brought home (and then I justify getting another one, right?)
ReplyDeleteI hope the baby arrives soon, and that you have a great time in Paris :-)

ReplyDeleteYour box is AWESOME!!! Both the front and the back!!!
ReplyDeleteGosh Lin -- the "sewing" box was already gorgeous . . . but this one is drop-dead fabulous!!! Have to figure out how to turn it every five minutes, so that no viewer misses anything. So clever, and so very pretty. I'd pay a lot of money to own it . . . . or should I try to make one???!!!!!!
