I painted my canvas board with my new Caribbean Sea Fresco Finish paint and blended it with some Guacamole.....I'm loving this colour combination. I used some of the images from my new stencils (these will be available at a PaperArtsy stockist near you very soon) and some of Ellen Vargo's great background stamps with Snowflake paint to create an interesting background. I felt it needed a little something extra so I painted a scrap of sheet music and added that to the canvas with Matt Medium.
I used a sheet of Ranger's self adhesive copper to create my little houses. I stuck it to some cardstock for stability and stamped the images with Stazon ink.
You can see from this close up shot how you can add interest to the houses using just a few tools. After cutting out the houses, leaving a narrow border, I used a patterned embossing wheel to not only add decoration to the borders, but also to flatten down any sharp edges left by the scissors. I used my pointy tool (better known as a Teflon tipped stylus) to add some dots and squiggles to the houses.
As it is really quite tricky to cut around the dangly bits from the tall skinny house, I chopped them off but replaced them with some brass charms.
After die cutting an arch from corrugated card and decorating it with a variety of my new stamps, I felt the canvas was still lacking something so I stamped a little garden across the bottom of the canvas and made some metal number embellishments for the top which filled all the gaps for me.
Can't believe that I've managed to blog four days in a row!! I hope to be back tomorrow too. See you then.

ReplyDeleteLoving the metal houses and the addition of the music sheet to the background. You might be remembering the lovely Caribbean sounds as you went around the Island, that's also a great way to get inspired :-) xxx
