Play Day Therapy

From time to time, we all have a day when we are not feeling the best and for me, the best therapy is to immerse myself in an arty project, so on Saturday I pulled a few random things from my stash and decided to see where they would take me. I found a wooden tray, a wooden oval plaque, some Wendy Vecchi Art Parts, some chipboard letters, some resin flowers and a few metal embellishments.

The first thin I did was to base coat the wooden tray with lake Wanaka Fresco Finish paint, this is one of the new colours....if you have not got this yet, you really need to add it to your stash!!

I bought this beautiful printed tissue at a recent show and thought this would be the ideal project for it, so I used it to line the inside of my tray.

I painted my oval plaque with Antarctic, also a new colour in the Fresco range and found a paper doily which I thought might be good for texture, so I glued it down with some Matt Medium and painted over it with some more Antarctic. 

After painting my chipboard shapes with French Roast Fresco, I decided it might be time to try and arrange a few things in the tray, just to get an idea of how it could look. You know what it's like, you spend an hour trying out all the possibilities and then go back to the layout you tried first!!!! In case you are wondering, I used an image from PaperArty's LP009 for my fob watch, she was the perfect size.

Now that I had a bit of an idea of how it was going to look, I decided to go back and work on the plaque. I used some Olive Bronze Treasure Gold which I applied with a paintbrush so that I could highlight the pattern on the doily.

Now, you will have to forgive me as I got quite carried away with painting, Treasure Golding, die cutting and sticking stuff down that I forgot to take any more pictures until it was all stuck down......so here is the final piece!

I'm very much in love with my Memory Box dies at the moment, I find them so useful for filling gaps and unlike other dies that I have, they are very delicate and extremely elegant. The two I used here are Fresh Foliage and Geneva Vine. I painted them with Space Cadet (you guessed it, another new colour Fresco!) and then gave them the Treasure Gold treatment.

I used quite a few of Finnabair's metal embellishments which look stunning with Fresco paint and Treasure Gold.

All I need to do now is figure out how and where I am going to hang it!!!
